2008 Rewind:
Going in Sam Hornish Jr. and his team knew that 2008 was going to be a struggle. What they probably didn’t expect was for Hornish not to show any signs of improvement as the year went along. After a promising two-week stretch in May at Lowes, where Hornish raced his way into the All-Star race and backed it up the following week in the 600 with a 13th place finish, he was only able to record one finish inside the top-20 the remainder of the year.

However, it’s not unreasonable to expect that Hornish shows some improvement and start running in the top-20 on a somewhat more regular basis. A few top-10 finishes and some good runs in qualifying should quite those who think that Hornish belongs back in IndyCars. But if Hornish turns in another year like he did last year, those critics might have a point, Hornish might be just be best served by going back to open-wheel racing.
