2008 Rewind:
While he didn’t get a whole lot of pub in 2008, Paul Menard very quietly had a very respectable sophomore run in 2008. Driving for an organization in constant upheaval (DEI), Menard was able to finish 26th in points, and had a near win at Talladega in the fall, and showed that he just might have what it takes to be more than just a backmarker with a rich daddy. That being said, Menard is still a long, long way away from being a contender for the Sprint Cup.
2009 Preview:
Moving to a new team (Yates Racing) that offers better equipment and more promising future than his previous employer, Menard will have no excuses if he can’t cut it at the Sprint Cup level. To take the next step Menard will have to improve upon his average starting and finishing position, both of which hover right around 25. Adjusting to a new team though might take some time, and Menard must work on his consistency and start running in the top-10 on a semi-regular basis.
